The 18th edition of the International Indian Film Academy awards ended on a high with Udta Punjab winning four awards on Saturday night.
As hosts, Karan Johar and Saif Ali Khan attempted to keep the humour alive, but beyond a point, the crowd wasn't very engaged and booed them in between.
"Neerja" turned out to be thebig victor when it took home the coveted award for Best Picture.
Actor Shahid Kapoor walked the red carpet of International Indian Film Academy or IIFA awards 2017 holding the hand of his better half Mira Rajput. Actor Diljit Dosanjh also won the Best Debutant (male) award for the same film. Amit Mishra won best playback (male) for "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', Kanika Kapoor and Tulsi Kumar shared the best female playback for "Udta Punjab" and "Airlift" respectively, while Pritam won best music director for "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil".
Shabani Azmi's performance in Neerja and Anupam Kher's work in MS Dhoni: The Untold Story earned them the Best Supporting Actor awards. The best actor in a comic role went to Varun Dhawan for "Dishoom", Alia Bhatt picked up a second trophy for Mystra Style Icon, and IIFA named Taapsee Pannu their woman of the year. However, it was not all smooth-sailing for the duo as the audience booed at them several times during the show at the jam-packed MetLife stadium.
She even pulled her co-star Varun Dhawan on to the stage to dance with her. He played the role of MS Dhoni's father in the film.
He treated fans by performing on hit numbers from '90s movie "Judwaa" like "Oonchi hai building" and "Tan tana tan", which are being recreated for his upcoming film "Judwaa 2". He and his alleged girlfriend Kriti Sanon gave an unbelievable dance performance together in NY on July 15.
