Barcelona are yet to agree a deal for Marco Verratti according to Roberto Fernandez

Spanish media outlet Don Balon claimed that Barca had offered the midfielder to Paris St-Germain as bait for Italian midfield sensation Marco Verratti.

Valverde said in a press conference that the club is working on improving the squad, but he is not thinking about getting any new players as he is focusing on those he already has in the team.

Valverde is happy with the squad he inherited from Luis Enrique with the additions of Gerard Deulofeu and Nelson Semedo to the team, he remains open to improvements if the right player becomes available this summer.

Yes, the former Tottenham midfielder who is now playing in China at Guangzhou Evergrande is being linked with a move to the Camp Nou.

"You can make signings until the end of August and we know how things are. The more good players we have, the more chances we'll have to achieve it".

"For me, they're not for sale".

Questioned on Barca's interest in Brazilian midfielder, Paulinho, Valverde stuck to the same line, saying: "It's hard to improve what we have in the team. But my idea is always to work with the players in my squad".

"If an opportunity arises, we'll try to take it, but it's not easy to buy a player who has a contract with an important club".

But Valverde still has some hopes amidst rumours of a swap deal which could involve either Ivan Rakitic or Andre Gomes and a fee of about 65 million in exchange for Verratti.

"That's not going to happen", he said when asked if he could imagine Barca without Neymar.

Ernesto Valverde's side will face Juventus, Manchester United and rivals Real Madrid in the competition before returning to Catalonia to play Brazilian club Chapecoense.
