On Thursday, in a report, Roopa stated that AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala had allegedly bribed senior prison officers including Director General of Prisons (DGP) Satyanarana Rao to set up a private kitchen in the Parappana Agrahara central jail where she's now serving a four year sentence.

"It is absolutely against the rule book", Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said who also noted "It is inappropriate on her part to share details with media".

Mrs. Roopa told Deccan Chronicle in an exclusive interview that during her visit to Sasikala's cell, she had video recorded evidence on a handycam, which backed her claims of preferential treatment to Ms. Sasikala but the film was "deleted" by some officials in the prison.

The state government on Friday issued notices to DGP (Prisons) H N Sathyanarayana Rao and Deputy Inspector General (Prisons) D Roopa for breach of service rules and interacting with the media. The Chief Minister has appointed a retired IAS officer to conduct a probe on the inquiry and to submit the report on or before 3rd August. "I have ordered a high-level inquiry into the allegations and will take action once the committee submits its report". Ms. Roopa also said that besides a special kitchen, Sasikala was provided with a separate gallery to meet her visitors.

An unfazed Ms. Roopa said: "I stick to my report and I stand by it". Rao has said the allegations are baseless. Bedi, the country's first woman IPS officer known for launching several reforms at Tihar Jail, in a tweet said the country needs more officers like Roopa. She had only reacted.

"I welcome the reporting of corruption in the system, but Roopa is going to the media before raising it in the police department".
