Calling hours for Nichole Davis are Sunday afternoon at the Fergerson Funeral Home in North Syracuse. It included officers from the Evans Mills and Theresa police departments, officers who worked with Trooper Davis. Calling hours are being held there from 4 p.m.to 8 p.m. today.
"The entire NY family grieves today for trooper Joel Davis, who was shot and killed in the line of duty Sunday night in Theresa, Jefferson County", Mr. Cuomo said in a news release.
Police said a friend of Nichole Walters also had been shot, but her injuries were not life-threatening.
Several thousand law enforcement officers from across the US and Canada are expected to attend this weekend's funeral services trooper Joel Davis. State Police Superintendent George P. Beach II reflected the public's grief over the death of Mr. Davis. "I ask all New Yorkers to keep trooper Davis's family, loved ones and colleagues in the State Police in their prayers during this incredibly hard time". Authorities say he then gunned down 36-year-old Joel Davis moments after the trooper arrived on the scene while responding to reports of shots fired on the couple's property in the rural town of Theresa.
We must not take the valor of our first-responders for granted.
Mr. Davis's death is a awful loss.
