After JD (U) pressurised Tejashwi Yadav to resign from his post of deputy chief minister of Bihar, Congress' president, Sonia Gandhi, intervened in order to save the great alliance of Bihar. Lalu said Tejashwi has already told his critics that he would explain everything to the people in the run-up to the August 27 rally in Patna in which top leaders of all the non-NDA parties would participate.
However, JD (U) spokesperson KC Tyagi said there are no talks of any split in the mahagathbandhan.
"JD-U will not go back on its own stand against corruption".
BJP's senior leader Sushil Modi has mounted a massive pressure on ruling coalition to remove Tejashwi from the cabinet to protect the "Mr". The same event was attended by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The JD (U) had earlier said that the party was not convinced with Tejashwi Yadav's public statement and wanted him to give an explanation on corruption charges levelled against him.
Lalu Yadav said that his son Tejashwi Yadav, who is facing corruption charges, will not resign as Bihar Deputy Chief Minister.
"An FIR is not sufficient reason for the resignation", he said.
Lalu, on his return from Ranchi late last night after appearing in courts in connection with fodder scam cases, had categorically said that Tejaswi would not resign and claimed that the case against him was "politically motivated".
RJD sources said the party on Saturday made a decision to ask all its ministers to resign if Nitish Kumar insists on Tejashwi resigning. "The RJD will not let anybody break our alliance", he added. He also refused to disclose the known sources of his income as demanded by the JD (U) earlier in the day.
After much speculation, deputy chief minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav has finally decided not to oblige the opposition's demand for his resignation. "There is no question at all of ending it", he said.
