Infinity War is nearly a year away, so Marvel are really firing up the hype-machine early with this reveal and generously allowing fans ample time to generate some batshit fan theories in the meantime.

Disney, the company that owns Marvel, is throwing its big D23 Expo over the weekend, and an early visitor to the Anaheim Convention Center in California Instagrammed a photograph of a statue of Thanos.
The film will pit Earth's Mightiest Heroes along with the Guardians of the Galaxy to fight off the Mad Titan as he tries to gather the six Infinity stones to take control of the galaxy. Brolin was noticeably ripped, with short hair, showing the success of his strict workout regiment he's undergoing to play Cable in Fox's Deadpool 2. Paul Bettany (Vision) and Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) first came on stage, followed by some members of the Guardians of the Galaxy roster.
That's a big nod to the comics where Drax the Destroyer was reconstructed for the sole goal of hunting and killing Thanos.
According to Cinemablend, the title change occurred because the title would reveal a spoiler for the Avengers film that preceded it. Feige confirmed the reasoning for the name change was due to it being a spoiler in an interview the publication.
The cast then received a standing ovation from the crowd of fans. And fittingly, Ruffalo said he brought a friend - Chris Hemsworth steps out.
