AMERICA'S GOT TALENT Contestant Cured of Blindness Gets Golden Buzzer

The Golden Buzzer Christian Guardino

Golden Buzzer awarded to 16-year-old Christian Guardino on America's Got Talent

His mom, Elizabeth, also said during her "America's Got Talent" interview that her son was blind for most of his life until he received an experimental gene therapy treatment. After getting over his nerves, Guardino proved Cowell's prescience with a stunning, soulful rendition of the 1969 Jackson 5 single "Who's Lovin' You".

A very pleased Simon Cowell said he actually needed time to process what just happened.

And with that first note, Guardino blew everyone away!

Will Christian Guardino, Howie Mandel's golden buzzer recipient, become the victor of "America's Got Talent" Season 12? When he wrapped up his performance, everyone was on their feet cheering for him. Mel B praised Kechi for her bravery. Her lovely cover of Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" drew a standing ovation and left Howie "blown away".

Fellow panelist Howie Mandel asked Guardino what he would wish for in that moment. When the teenager replied, "Right this second?"

Now, just a couple of years after overcoming one hurdle, Christian triumphs at another with the help of America's Got Talent golden buzzer from Howie Mandel. "Probably the Golden Buzzer". All three will advance straight into the live shows next month. Later on, all four judges and audience gave him a standing ovation, an emotional Guardino teared up.

"America's Got Talent" Season 12 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
