State Police say two deputies were shot and the suspect was killed in Knox County.
State police have since identified the suspect as John Wesley Bays, 50.
According to a news release from the KSP, both deputies stated that they had been shot but were able to return fire striking the perpetrator.
Jacobs said the deputies were shot around 11:40 a.m. Monday while trying to serve a warrant at a home in Knox County. When deputies were inside the home, they found Bays who began shooting at both deputies before they could return fire.
Deputy Hudson's vest and badge kept the bullet from penetrating his skin, while Deputy Liford was shot multiple times.
Kentucky State Police are now investigating the incident. While deputies were inside the residence they located Bays.
Trooper Shane Jacobs told WKYT-TV (http://bit.ly/2s3TgF3 ) that Knox County Deputy Keith Liford was treated at a hospital and is expected to recover after Monday's confrontation. He is listed in serious condition. Deputy Hudson was taken to Knox County ARH and released.
