Denver will be hosting its own Equality March for Unity and Pride Sunday, joining other cities across the world in rallying to affirm and protect LGBTQ rights and safety. "Get that Cheeto out of here!" was among the chants directed at Trump as marchers paraded past the White House and toward the Capitol in Washington, the Associated Press reported. He wrote on the event's Facebook page that he drew inspiration from the worldwide Women's March in January and hoped to create a similar event for the LGBTQ community.
Members of the LGBTQ community gathered around the country on Sunday.
The march's platform highlights a number of causes, including disability rights, preventing violence against LGBTQ people, and support for LGBTQ immigrants. According to Jones, each speaker was chosen to reflect the diverse voices within our LGBTQ community and help unite queer people from all backgrounds.
"We are all a part of the community this President has attacked day in and day out", he said.
The march's platform points include a call to prevent discrimination against transgender and gender nonconforming people.
Las Vegas to host Equality March for LGBT rights
June is National LGBTQ Pride month.
"We simply felt that in 2017 we need to return to our roots and protest so that those who would roll back our hard-won human rights are put on notice that we will not stand idly by", L.A. Pride organizers said on the event's website.
The march will begin by Washington, D.C.'s Farragut Square and culminate on the National Mall.
