The Trump administration fired Comey in early May, citing his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation during the 2016 USA presidential elections. "If he's got evidence of corruption, of obstruction, bring it forward".
He said he began writing memos after his meetings with Mr Trump because he was "honestly anxious he might lie". "And so it's time to wrap this up and it's time to move on".
Trump had previously indicated via Twitter there were tapes, to which Comey responded during his testimony, "Lordy, I hope there are tapes".
"I don't see any evidence of intent to obstruct", the Utah senator added.
Comey later testified that he shared private memos of his conversations with Trump with a law professor at Columbia University.
As CNN commentators afterward questioned why Trump couldn't just come right out and answer the question about tapes, correspondent Dana Bash made a crack referring to Trump's reality-TV roots: "You've got to wait for the next episode!" Yesterday showed no collusion, no obstruction.
But Mr Trump's aides have dodged questions about whether conversations relevant to the Russian Federation investigation have been recorded, and so has the President.
"Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication.and WOW, Comey is a leaker!" he tweeted early on Friday. Who would ask a man to pledge allegiance under oath? Asked if he had taped their conversations, as he implied in a threatening tweet shortly after he fired Comey, Trump said he would reveal that answer soon.
President Trump denied asking Mr Comey for his loyalty: "I hardly know the man".
"Comey's excuse for this unauthorised disclosure of privileged information appears to be entirely retaliatory", said Mr Kasowitz. According to Comey's sworn testimony, Trump said, "I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting [former National Security Adviser Michael] Flynn go". I think loyalty to the country, loyalty to the U.S., is important.
QUESTION: He did say under oath that you told him to let the Flynn - you said you hoped the Flynn investigation, he could let go.
Trump Jr. also disputed Comey's credibility, saying of the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director: "I think he even got caught up in his own nonsense on this one". It doesn't make sense.
