Wilson authorities search for suspect after double homicide

Someone called deputies to report that Dennis Joyner had not shown up for work Friday, which was unusual for him.

The Wilson County Sheriff's Office issued an arrest warrant for 38-year-old Michael Allen Joyner - the son of Dennis Joyner and husband of Michelle Joyner.

Responding police said the uninjured infant had been locked in a back bedroom according to wral.

Detectives traced Joyner to California, before he was arrested in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Authorities found his auto at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport and think he hopped a flight to Los Angeles, California. Deputies said the murders appeared to have happened sometime Friday morning.

Once inside the home, deputies found Michelle and Dennis Joyner's bodies on the floor.

Deputies discovered the bodies of two adults and an alive toddler locked in a bedroom after they were called to check on a person around 7:25 p.m. Friday at 4104 Evansdale Road, according to a news release from Wilson County Sheriff's Office.

"We were able to locate his vehicle as well as gather intelligence as to his whereabouts in California", Woodard said.

The toddler was found without injuries and was placed in the custody of the Department of Social Service. "We are now awaiting the extradition results so that this suspect can be brought back to Wilson County to face these charges".

The child's grandfather, 63-year-old Dennis Joyner, was also found dead.

The Wilson County Sheriff's Office said it's charged 38-year-old Michael Allen Joyner with two counts of murder. Joyner was not at the scene when deputies arrived. Officials did not disclose the location of Joyner's arrest or information about his connection to San Pedro.

Sheriff's detectives received assistance from the State Bureau of Investigation's Fugitive Task Force and the FBI in locating Michael Joyner.
