Mumbai: "Sachin: A Billion Dreams", a documentary drama on ace Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, registered an opening day collection of Rs 8.40 crore, according to the makers. He gave the docu-drama 4 stars (out of 5).
The movie takes viewers through Tendulkar's journey in his personal and professional life. The film also offers a glimpse into the man behind the "Master Blaster" and his personal trials and tribulations. This is the seventh film of the year to have witnessed positive response and highest weekend numbers. A collection of his rare videos and footage, "Sachin A Billion Dreams" tells the life story of the cricketer in his own style. If you add that to the budget of the documentary film, it's nearly as much as any other average Hindi feature film. This is just below Half Girlfriend, a much more conventional and quintessentially Bollywood entertainment flick, which brought in 32.04 crore over the weekend. With no one other big Hindi film release and the huge fan following that Sachin enjoys - the collections only grew bigger over the weekend. Recently, Maharashtra government made a decision to waive off the entertainment tax on Tendulkar's biopic.
