Arsene Wenger speaks on Arsenal's miss of top 4 spot, Champions League

After 25 minutes, with Manchester City and Arsenal both winning - and thus finishing third and fourth if results stayed the same - the fans and the players became aware they needed a goal to leapfrog Arsene Wenger's side back into the Champions League places.

Terry, 22 years at the club and 13 as captain, started the final league game of the season and wept as fans sang his name after unfurling banners describing him as "captain, leader, legend".

Wenger's worst-ever Premier League season was over and so were Arsenal's hopes of making the Champions League. Some other reasons, where we will talk about another day.

"He's a player who is very important to us and has worked hard throughout the year for us".

He added: "It has been hard".

There could also be a price to pay for next weekend's FA Cup final against Chelsea as Laurent Koscielny was sent off just 14 minutes in and Gabriel was carried off on a stretcher. Some obviously that you know about.

More generally on his future he added: 'Nothing is set in stone but I would say today that I feel good at Arsenal.

"But I can not give you the answer today".

"But I'm so proud to wear this shirt every day of my life".

A fifth-placed finish means Wenger's men will be on the outside looking in after 19 straight seasons in Europe's elite club competition.

"Arsenal have been crying out for a midfielder to run games and may have to replace Alexis Sanchez".

Arsenal's French manager Arsene Wenger looks on during the match.

'With Sporting Director Michael Edwards we will sit together and think about what we need, ' said Klopp.

"I think people deserve this opportunity for us to be able to qualify for the Champions League".

"I can't wait to see who he gets in", Houghton said on LFC TV.

"I respect Stan Kroenke a lot".

A club like Liverpool needs to be in the Champions League. "It's the technical department that is responsible for that".

"Next season we will be better, and as a coach I am better than the year before, but it is not simple".

"So we just have to be a little bit more precise in those situations and we are going to try".

But of what happens in the cup final, Wenger insisted that the squad doesn't need a major overhaul next season.

We will likely have a back three of Rob Holding, Shkodran Mustafi and Nacho Monreal starting against Chelsea next week, but any more injuries and may have to play Francis Coquelin or an inexperienced player against this year's stand-out side.
