Pippa Middleton's wedding is shaping up as Britain's wedding of the year

Ever since the younger sister of Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge made headlines at her sister's wedding to Prince William in 2011 in THAT Alexander McQueen dress, the world's media and royal watchers have been impatiently waiting for Middleton junior to tie the knot.

Pippa Middleton, (R) is escorted by her father Michael Middleton, as she arrives for her wedding to James Matthews at St. Mark's Church in Englefield, west of London, on Saturday.

And, less than a year later the society couple are due to Wednesday in what The Sun claims will be a "tartan-tinged affair" to celebrate Matthews' Scottish heritage.

Though Prince Harry was in attendance, his girlfriend, Meghan Markle, was not in immediate sight.

With less than 24 hours until "the wedding of the year", here's everything you need to know about the big day. Prince George and Princess Charlotte are acting as page boy and flower girl at their Aunt Pippa's wedding, and Kate had expressed some anxiety over how the littlest royals will manage.

The wedding is taking place at St Mark's Church on the private Englefield estate, about five miles (8km) from the bride's home village of Bucklebury.

With royalty as in-laws and a reality TV star rumoured to be the best man, it is little wonder that excited British tabloids have dubbed this weekend's marriage of Pippa Middleton, younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, the wedding of the year.

Pippa Middleton is a stunning bride!

The Duchess of Cambridge told a palace guest this week that she is hoping for the best but admitted she is a bit concerned her children may act up.

She graduated from Edinburgh University with an English literature degree, then became a socialite on London's posh party circuit. According to Daily Mail, the reception will be Scottish-themed. Numerous reports claim Middleton will arrive by horse and carriage, adding to the reputation of her fairytale wedding. Deacon has dressed some of the biggest stars in Hollywood including Cate Blanchett, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson.

But her first foray into publishing, Celebrate: A Year Of British Festivities For Families And Friends, was met with cynicism from some critics.

In a children's sack race, "The first person to cross the finish line is declared the victor", it said.

But Middleton insisted she had to cover the basics. She also had a column for a supermarket magazine.

"'Pippa's Friday Night Feasts', will be an exciting opportunity to share my own passion and enthusiasm for food and entertaining", she said at the time.

The menu will feature a lamb recipe from the book.

A socialite on London's posh party circuit, she is a regular guest in the royal box at the Wimbledon tennis championships.

She had relationships with former England cricketer Alex Loudon and stockbroker Nico Jackson before falling for Matthews. "They could get their Gucci-Prada-whatever anywhere".
