Google Assistant Is Bringing AI To Your Coffee Table And Your iPhone

To help developers fine-tune their own apps, Google has launched a "Building for Billions" Web page with technical tools and checklists for handling devices with a variety of connectivity, range, data management, and battery capabilities.

Mind you, Google having AI in devices isn't anything new.

"Integrating our full suite of connected appliances with the Google Assistant makes it easier for owners to control their appliances and get on with their day". Google will ship Lens initially with its digital assistant technology Google Assistant and with Google Photo.

Google withdrew its Google Glass product after a number of concerns were raised, with the device's video camera filming people without their knowledge among them. Every time they get a new one, there's the option to switch platforms - whether that's from Android to iOS, or Windows Phone to Android. The Android O OS also has a picture-in-picture feature that will surely make multi-tasking much more convenient compared to the previous operating systems. But you can bet I will be trying them now. These are tied to apps, but they display specific programming that each app offers - Netflix's row, just to offer one example, might tout original shows like House of Cards or Master of None.

The Google Assistant coming to iPhone was announced as part of their I/O Annual Developer Conference held in San Francisco this week.

Android TV's best new feature may be previews on the home page. This may seem obvious as it is a third-party program, but the process of finding the app, installing it, and placing it in an ideal spot on your home screen is significant friction that will likely limit adoption and usage. Find My Device helps you track down your device when it's close by.

Android O goes one step further and drops the gumdrop shape entirely in favor of completely round emoji set that look even more like Apple's set. As you might imagine, these users would install tons of apps from Google Play as well. You will now be able to order food using the Google Assistant as well as play music simply with your voice or even through a text message from your smartphone. You can say something like "Send $50 to Paul Miller", and Google Assistant will confirm before it fires off the money - using your fingerprint if you're on Android.

Google's Product and Engineering teams are still hammering out the details of the calling feature before it's rolled out to the public, so we do not have a full understanding yet of how it works.
