While a lot of credit should go to Shelvin Mack for his dogged defense, Curry can not afford to have an off-night when he is lucky enough to get to go against backup point guards all night long. Three straight times, he abused the smaller Gordon Hayward (team-high 29 points), drilling unblockable fadeaways over his outstretched arms. The 28-year-old All-Star scored 38 points on 15-of-26 shooting and added 13 rebounds.
The Jazz had 19 assists.
Draymond Green relishes in being one of the most polarizing players in the National Basketball Association, but he doesn't understand what the people of Utah have against him.
Just for a second, everyone thought that the Jazz might actually win a game in this series. They had a one-point lead at halftime and trailed by just two points with less than four minutes to go. Whether they win tonight or not, at some point they will move on to the Conference Finals.
"We'll take some of the things we did well and use them in the next game".
Jazz coach Quin Snyder said Golden State's combination of length and quickness makes things hard. If it can't, though, it can beat you other ways. Durant finished the game with only two of his 15 makes coming from layups or dunks. It was the third time this postseason, and the second in this series, that Golden State had seven turnovers in a game.
All his 3s were in the first half as the Warriors led wire to wire again. "KD can shoot from 25 feet, 17 feet, or get to the rim it doesn't matter".
The Golden State Warriors' chances of winning the NBA Title fall directly on the shoulders of Kevin Durant. At one point in the fourth quarter, it ran onto the court, so Durant didn't mince his words.
On the one hand, from Utah's perspective, this isn't that bad. Hayward plays flawless defense on Durant while contesting this jumper, and it just didn't make any difference.
Don't think the Jazz are ready to quit just yet, though. And once Durant found his rhythm, it was impossible to cool him off.
There is basically nothing that any team can do to slow down Durant when he is as hot as he was last night. "It seems like it's been a while since we've been home", Hayward told reporters.
The Warriors knew when they sent a recruiting team to the Hamptons to persuade him to join them that Durant is a game-changer. "Steph got going, K.D. got going, and they're very tough to guard".
"That allows them the opportunity to do some things that are effective in their ability to switch", Snyder said. "Especially when he's as good as he is in the pick-and-roll game".
This wasn't a typical Golden State game.
Jazz starting point guard George Hill missed his second consecutive game with a big toe injury.
The Warriors got out to a quick start, again, and led by 10 after the first quarter. The reality, however, is that it could do that and its season could end anyway. "We're 6-0, you couldn't ask for a better start, but this is the playoffs and we can't let teams get confident", Klay Thompson said.
