Even so, a New York Times report Wednesday night said that Trump initially took in the news "calmly" and appeared determined to still focus on his legislative agenda.

So far, no evidence of collusion has been presented, but the question has consumed the first four months of Trump's presidency and spurred multiple crises that have left the White House shell-shocked.

Asked if he'd ever done anything that would merit impeachment, Trump said, "I think that's totally ridiculous". "No politician in history has been treated worse or more unfairly". In addition Trump is facing pointed questions about his discussions with Russian diplomats during which Trump is reported to have disclosed classified information.

A report by News Max is stating that Representative Justin Amash, republican from MI, says Trump should be impeached if it is discovered that he tampered with the FBI investigation into Michael Flynn by asking James Comey to stop the investigation.

Trump referred to Comey's testimony at a recent Capitol Hill hearing after which the Justice Department ended up having to amend part of his testimony regarding last year's probe of Hillary Clinton's email practices. "But everybody merits a fair trail", he was quoted as saying.

"It is time we look at the idea of an independent commission or special prosecutor", the Illinois Republican told CNN's Alisyn Camerota on "New Day".

Schumer said Deputy Atty. "The country is being tested in unprecedented ways".

House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan stuck to that line and told reporters on Wednesday he still has confidence in Trump.

"I'm hopeful we can reach agreement in a bipartisan fashion on how to move forward in a professional manner", Graham said.

"Personally, just from what I know right now, it's being made a bigger deal than what it is", said Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Georgia, who said that the president has not committed an obstruction of justice.

Several committees in Congress were quickly moving to address the Comey memo story Wednesday.

Part of Comey's investigation into Flynn concerned his possible links to Russian Federation.

Democratic Rep. Al Green of Texas called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump Wednesday morning, the first member of Congress to officially request leveling charges against the President from the House floor. The former director, who reportedly agreed that Flynn was a good guy, subsequently recorded their conversation in a memo, which he shared with senior Federal Bureau of Investigation employees.

Did he urge Comey at a February meeting to drop his probe of the Russian Federation connections of Trump's national security adviser, Michael Flynn? "I'm going to correct you", she told the interviewer.

"There was no real result".

In addition to an endless stream of gossip and internal squabbling, news outlets have been privy to everything from details of draft documents to the president's private phone conversations with foreign leaders. Certainly, it should never have been made. Everybody thinks so. Again, we have to get back to working our country properly so that we can take care of the problems that we have.
