Snakes Alive! Shelby Unveils new Super Snake Mustang Concept and F-150

Debuting today at the Carroll Shelby International headquarters in Gardena, California, just days before the 5th annual Carroll Shelby Tribute & Car Show that will grace the same location, is Shelby American's latest offering-the Shelby F-150 Super Snake. Additional styling cues also include Shelby Super Snake stripes and badges. Instead of being optimized for straight line performance, the Super Snake wide body concept provides more grip on all four corners.

The F-150 Super Snake will be limited to a run of 150 trucks, which start at $96,880 (not including destination).

The factory concept, designed and built at Shelby American's Las Vegas facility, features a wide body that's intended for road racing.

Speaking about the vehicle, Shelby American vice president of operations Vince LaViolette said "It will deliver more communication to the driver and better absorb track imperfections".

While we love a great sounding truck with lots of power and handling, it has to look the Shelby part too, especially when wearing the Super Snake name. Under the hood, the F-150 Super Snake is powered by Ford's iconic 5.0L V8 engine with a supercharger to pump out over 750 horsepower. "The fully adjustable coil over suspension and the enormous Brembo braking system, along with wider wheels and tires significantly change the car's driving dynamics. This provides more grip for later braking and earlier acceleration out of corners", said Vince LaViolette, Shelby American vice president of operations, to a crowd of auto journos and guests.

With its new Super Snake, officially dubbed the Widebody Concept, Shelby has gone down a different route by creating a hardcore Mustang that has been designed to deliver the ultimate in performance around a racetrack.

"Carroll Shelby was an early pioneer in high performance street trucks, beginning with his first production version nearly 30 years ago", said Joe Conway, Co-CEO of Carroll Shelby International and CEO of Shelby American. Inside, the theme continues across the seats, dash and floor. "True to Carroll Shelby's philosophy, it has more power, more sound, more styling, and more handling prowess". Shelby covers the truck with a 3/36k mile warranty and the trucks all get Shelby serial numbers and are documented in the Shelby Registry. Shelby American also offers the Shelby Raptor, Shelby F-150 Super Snake and Shelby F-150 trucks.

The concept auto will also be unveiled to the public at the 5 Annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and vehicle Show on May 20, 2017, in the same location where it was introduced to the media.
