The Japanese automaker has officially announced it's gearing up for the introduction of the second-generation leaf fully electric compact, releasing the first teaser image that has us all exciting and geared up for the official introduction.
Speaking of the headlights, the first teaser image for the new campaign appears to be of the vehicle's headlights - with the mention "The new #Nissan #LEAF". They do say that the teaser image is part of a 'series of photos and informational briefs scheduled this summer in preparation for the global reveal of the new Nissan LEAF later this year'. The headlamp housing is similar to the one seen on Nissan's IDS concept that was showcased at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.
When the future Leaf arrives next year, it will lead Nissan's charge to grow EVs to represent 20% of its sales by 2020.
Nissan's CEO Carlos Ghosn has suggested that the new LEAF could feature Nissan's ProPilot, an autonomous driving system which is considerably more advanced than the semi-autonomous aids available in some current Nissans like the Qashqai. Let's see what Nissan has in its store for the EV lovers. Specifically, the second-generation Leaf is expected to join the long range electric segment, in a bid to compete with the Chevrolet Bolt and Tesla Model 3. That said, the new Leaf will be offered in multiple range options internationally.
