The 28-year-old has suffered a dip in 2017, scoring only three goals, but still have 17 Premier League goals this season.
The Diego Costa-to-China rumors have (re-) exploded over the past 12-24 hours, with fresh reports of massive wages and transfer fees being offered by Tianjian Quanjian and possibly others from the Chinese Super League as well.
Costa has not scored in his last five Premier League outings and that poor run of form has led to increased speculation that he has become distracted by further doubts around his future.
Tianjin are reportedly ready to make Costa the best-paid player in the world, with a contract worth £650,000 a week after tax. "And we have already made contacts with several players".
"We have high standards [when it comes to buying foreign players] and those players prefer top clubs such as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid".
"We may have to pay bigger prices because our club is now competing with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich".
Over the past couple of years, a number of renowned footballers including Ezequiel Lavezzi, Carlos Tevez and Graziano Pelle, have made the move to clubs in the Chinese Super League.
"The only thing I can say about it is that we are still working on a deal", he revealed.
Whether that's with or without Costa remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain.
Tianjin splashed £15 million on Alexandre Pato - formerly of Chelsea - from Villarreal in January and are keen to make more strides in their next transfer window.
