Ex-Patriot Hernandez hangs self in jail cell

In a 2006 interview, Hernandez said "After my dad died I pused harder and harder for him, even though I was already ranked as the number one tight end in the nation (for the high school class of 2007)". At the White House event in the afternoon, Republican President Donald Trump congratulated the Super Bowl champions but made no mention of Hernandez.

Hayes said in an e-mail that he was "confident that the agency and its health care provider will conduct comprehensive investigations into Mr. Hernandez's death".

The former National Football League tight end hanged himself on Wednesday in a prison cell, according to prison officials. He laid them carefully next to a Bible.

Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early, Jr., says detectives assigned to his office and the Department of Correction are investigating Hernandez's death. But they said they were satisfied he died at his own hand, and they said his brain would be donated to sports concussion researchers, ending a brief public dispute over its custody. According to a spokesperson with the Massachusetts Department of Correction, Hernandez hanged himself with a bed sheet attached to a window at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts.

Fallon said he was not aware of any suicide note. "Mr. Hernandez's next of kin have been notified".

Hernandez had been locked into his cell at about 8 p.m. Wednesday, and no one entered the cell until a guard saw him just after 3 a.m. and forced his way in because cardboard had been jammed into the door track to impede entry, authorities said. He was pronouned dead at 4:07 a.m. Hernandez was 27, and he had lost it all.

"There were no conversations or correspondence from Aaron to his family or legal team that would have indicated anything like this was possible", said his attorney, Jose Baez. The center studies a progressive degenerative brain disease found in some athletes who have experienced repetitive brain trauma.

Hernandez grew up in Bristol, Connecticut and attended Bristol Central High School where he accounted for 45 career receiving touchdowns. But the team loses in to the New York Giants in the Super Bowl.

Baez declined to say whether he or the family believed brain damage from Hernandez's playing days led him to kill himself. "We need to examine every aspect of this case". It was reportedly written on Hernandez in red marker. He also earns the John Mackey Award bestowed on college football's most outstanding tight end. It can only be diagnosed posthumously.

Hernandez was serving a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd. He was not charged in the 2012 killings until 2014.

Aaron Hernandez had the Bible verse "John 3:16" scrawled on his forehead when he was found dead in his prison cell Wednesday, reports say. About six weeks after Furtado and de Abreu were killed, Hernandez signed a five-year, $40 million contract with the Patriots and went on to play another season before Lloyd was killed.

The 5,800-square-foot, five-bedroom, seven-bathroom house he bought near Gillette Stadium for $1.3 million in 2012 is still up for sale. Bradley files a lawsuit alleging that Hernandez shot him after they argued at a strip club.

Hernandez's older brother, Jonathan "DJ" Hernandez, meanwhile, took to Facebook on Thursday to wish his mother, Terri Hernandez, happy birthday.
