Former UFC fighter War Machine aka Jon Koppenhaver, was found guilty on more than two-dozen charges in connection with an assault on his ex-girlfriend Christy Mackinday and her friend stemming from his arrest in 2014.

Koppenhaver, 35, carried out a brutal assault against Mack and Thomas in August 2014 which left Mack suffering from numerous injuries included a punctured lung and several broken bones. Koppenhaver was found not guilty of three charges including burglary with use of a deadly weapon, sexually motivated coercion, and sexual assault with use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm. He could face up to life in prison.

In closing arguments, Leiderman suggested that the jury never learned many things about the August 2014 attack at Mack's home, including Koppenhaver's state of mind, and therefore could not know if he meant to commit a crime.

Mackinday, who is known as Christy Mack, testified that she was clothed in bed with Thomas when the ex-fighter stormed into her home and assaulted them.

Mack, who consented to using her name in previous reports, subsequently released a statement with gruesome details of the incident and photos of her injuries, which included broken teeth, a fractured rib, and a severely ruptured liver.

Mack, 24, spent eight hours on the witness stand, sobbing as she described the regular beatings and rapes she received at Koppenhaver's hands in the months before the attack on her and Thomas.

Thomas testified that he suffered a broken nose, dislocated shoulder, scrapes, bruises and bite marks.

Mack said she fled her home and ran bleeding to neighbors when Koppenhaver went to the kitchen to fetch a knife.
