Mystery solved: Tom Brady's game-winning Super Bowl LI jersey has been found, the National Football League said Monday.
Authorities found two Super Bowl jerseys worn by New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
A report today from Fox Sports 1's (FS1) Jay Glazer indicates that a suspected thief has been caught by worldwide authorities and some believe that this thief might be responsible for much more than just stealing Brady's jersey.
The Patriots' 25-point comeback over the Falcons on February 5 gave Brady an NFL-record five Super Bowl wins as a starting quarterback.
The video led them to Mexico, where Brady's jersey (and a past Super Bowl jersey) were recovered from a former executive at tabloid Diario La Prensa. Both were stolen outside the United States and both were recovered in an FBI investigation. Basically, it's interesting that Brady didn't seem all that concerned with his missing Super Bowl XLIX jersey. They also found his other missing jersey from Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks. I'm proud to say as a result of their hard work, and with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Mexican authorities, we believe we've recovered the jersey.
If authorities have indeed fingered the right person, hopefully we'll find out sooner than later. He handed them to a team employee, who took them into the locker room.
"I put it in my bag and then came out and it wasn't there anymore", Brady said at the time. HPD quickly convened a press conference to let the public know the Major Offenders Division was on it - and soon the hunt for the missing jersey became an worldwide search.
