After spending most of three years injured or on the bench, Manuel got one last chance to show his ability at the end of the 2017 season.
Monday the Raiders are doing work this Monday, first officially adding quarterback EJ Manuel, then re-signing long snapper Jon Condo and now signing Jenkins.
With a new slate in Oakland, Manuel will have the opportunity to compete with second-year QB Connor Cook for the No. 2 job behind Carr.
Manuel did start one game in 2016, a 30-10 loss to the Jets in Week 17, where the quarterback completed just 9 of 20 passes for 86 yards. After getting promoted to offensive coordinator this offseason, he went after his old pupil. "That's a situation you want. That's what I'm excited about".
Former Florida linebacker Jelani Jenkins has signed with the Oakland Raiders.
Jenkins started 34 games with Miami the past four years.
In the two years prior to the 2016 season, Jenkins recorded 181 combined tackles (133 solo), 3.5 sacks and three forced fumbles, hinting that he could be a worthwhile contributor at linebacker in Miami's defense.
Matt McGloin, last year's No. 2 in Oakland, is now a free agent.
The Raiders are looking for improved coverage skills at that position.
Prior to taking his talents to the National Football League, the former Florida product recorded 182 combined tackles (109 solo), six sacks, three interceptions and one defensive touchdown as a three-year starter for the Gators.
