Shortly after, FloCombat reported that the UFC was also working on a middleweight contest between Olympic judoka Daniel Kelly and Derek Brunson.
New Zealand's own Mark Hunt is being slated to headline a UFC fight night against Derrick Lewis on June 11. The UFC has not commented on either bout, both of which are in the early negotiation process.
The UFC's Fight Night 110 main event from New Zealand could have just landed a massive heavyweight main event.
Hunt will return following a disappointing outing in his last fight when he suffered a brutal knockout courtesy of Alistair Overeem at UFC 209 in early March. The Louisiana-born Texan is now on a six-fight win-streak, having recently defeated Viktor Pesta, Damian Grabowski, Gabriel Gonzaga, Roy Nelson, Shamil Abdurakhimov and most recently, Browne.
Lewis, meanwhile, is coming off a KO win over Travis Browne in February. Prior to the two defeats, he'd won five straight, including knockout wins over Uriah Hall and Sam Alvey. Two and a half months later, the North Carolina native returned to face MMA legend Anderson Silva, but wound up losing a controversial split decision after 15 minutes.
