Free Agent Ryan Bader Officially Inks Bellator MMA Contract, No Debut Scheduled Yet

Bader does not yet have a disclosed time frame for his debut with Bellator.

Bellator is going big this summer, returning to pay-per-view for the long-awaited grudge match between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva. "I'm super excited", Bader said.

Ryan Bader is on his way to Bellator.

Bellator 180 will be a Pay-per-view event in the United States, the promotion's first since Bellator 120 in May of 2014. Bellator is owned by media conglomerate Viacom, and airs regularly on Spike TV. The division has become one of Bellator's deepest, featuring the likes of David, Bader, Liam McGeary, Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal, and Linton Vassell.

The mixed martial arts promotion will stage a stacked card in New York City on June 24, The Associated Press has learned. The UFC held a major PPV event at Madison Square Garden in November, which was headlined by its current lightweight champion Conor McGregor.

While Sonnen had a couple of minutes against Ortiz to shake off the ring rust that had accumulated during a three-year hiatus, the 40-year-old Silva will be stepping into action for the first time in over four years. I'm ranked No. 4 in the UFC. Coker did not confirm a timeline for Bader's promotional debut.

A former titleholder in Pride Fighting Championships, Silva secured his release from the UFC in 2016 and subsequently signed with Bellator MMA. During his two separate runs in the UFC, the outspoken fighter earned key victories over Trevor Prangley, Dan Miller, Yushin Okami, Nate Marquardt, Brian Stann, Michael Bisping and Mauricio Rua. He was supposed to fight Mirko Cro Cop in the Rizin FF grand prix tournament last December but pulled out with an injury.
